Between these poles…

We praise Allah an abundant praises and pray for His blessings and guidance….

It’s been said that good and evil cannot be living together, at the same time and place. They cannot be mixed, it is either you are doing good deeds or vice versa.

To understand the statement better, let’s take an analogy:

The north pole will be the good part whereas the south pole is the evil one. Guys, this is just an example, so, no offense to those who are in south pole, OK.

If you’re heading for the north pole, then you’d be avoiding or in other word you’ll be far from the south pole. Logically, you can’t be at the north and south poles at the same time.

So, if you are doing good deeds, you can’t be doing something bad at the same time, right? You’ll then create a distinct gap between you and the evil deeds. Get my point?

Hurmm…I wonder, is this the north or the south pole?

Therefore, in our daily trials on becoming a better muslim, we should practice good deeds, hence, we will prevent ourselves from doing the opposites, Insyaallah.

One more tip: bad deeds, once we started doing them, it’ll be hard to quit. So, don’t start….avoid them and this include the path that leads us to them.

If you’re aware, Allah SWT also mentioned the same method in Sura al- Israa’:32-

“Nor come nigh to adultery: for it is a shameful (deed) and an evil, opening the road (to other evils)”

Avoid the paths that lead to bad deeds and, Insyaallah, you’ll be safe.

When I attended Imam Suhaib talk at KGPA, he mentioned about bad things that we see with our eyes. The mechanism would be like a camera, it captures the view and stuck it on our heart. It will be hard to pull it out then. But when we watch, something good, like our wife or husband face, we would easily forget them. So, the trick again is to avoid them…avoid…try your best to avoid…you’ll be gratefull later on.

Then, about choosing something, Ustaz Hasrizal once said that, on the day of resurrection, we only have two choice, it is either heaven or hell, we can’t choose to sit between them, or stay outside them…

Make your choice now, only then you’ll know which path to lead in this brief life, Insyaallah…

In whatsoever you are doing or will be doing, always remember:

Only one thing that will create peace to our heart…

“Those who believe, and whose hearts find satisfaction in the remembrance of Allah. for without doubt in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find satisfaction. (Ar-Raa’du: 28)

Ya Allah, Anta Ya Rahman, Anta Ya Raheem, please guide us the way… and give us the strength to stay in the righteous path…Ameen.

Between these eyes…

We praise Allah an abundant praises and pray for His blessings and guidance….

You will be reading an insect story about bees and flies, and this is… their story….

Let’s start with the flies first. Flies’ eyes… Can you imagine in the brilliant brain of yours the shape of flies eyes? To better your level of imagination, let’s “wear their shoes”, or should I say, pretend that you, yes, you, are a fly. You and I, we’re both flies, so spread your wings and fly (am I using the right word? Whatever…).

Right now we are flying in a beautiful garden, full with beautiful flowers. But as flies, despite all the colours and sweet smells, what are we looking for? Shit or garbage isn’t it? That’s what flies feed on.

Now, using your brain power once again, change your character and scene. You and I suddenly turn into bees…we are buzzing not in the park, but at the waste disposal site. Obviously, as bees, we will be looking for flowers, even with the intense smell and dirt.

So, moral of the story, anyone?

Hurmm, seem likes kids these days, don’t enjoy animal story anymore.
Then, I’ll just conclude this story myself.

As you can see, there are two distinct types of people in this world. The first one are those who view the world through the bee’s eyes, and the rest look through the eyes of flies.

The bees’ eyes people search only good things eventhough the environment is the opposite, whereas the flies’ eyes people only look for bad things, eventhough they are in the most perfect environment. But when they view their lives through flies’ eyes, that perfect surrounding would only bring misery to them. And the bees’ eye people would always be happy no matter what state they are in…

So, open you heart, your eyes and mind…

Between these eyes, through which do you view?

Gratitude:
Jazakumullah Ustaz Zulramli for this interesting story (the above story I heard from IKIM Fm, on my way to class. Really made my day, Biiznillah. Alhamdulillah… )

Please wear ‘my shoes’….

Posted: January 9, 2011 in Uncategorized

We praise Allah an abundant praises and pray for His blessings and guidance….

Would you like to try my shoes? They’re not Prada, Gucci, not even close to Nike or Adidas…They’re just ‘my shoes’…Sometimes I’m comfortable in them, sometimes I’m not..but they’re mine…

Ops..this is not what we’re going to discuss. ‘Shoes’ here means our own feeling/life/condition/state of mind

People all over the world are screaming in their heart: please understand me…can you hold me…stop saying/doing that. It’s hurting me…I don’t want to do it…I’m so depressed…etc. I bet you know the rest…

A few lines from Beautiful lyrics, by Eminem, really caught my attention :
And I know some *#*# so hard to swallow
But I can’t just sit back and wallow
In my own sorrow but I know one fact
I’ll be one tough act to follow

One tough act to follow
I’ll be one tough act to follow
Here today, gone tomorrow

But you’d have to walk a thousand miles

In my shoes, just to see
What it’s like, to be me I’ll be you,
let’s trade shoes
Just to see what it’d be like to

Feel your pain, you feel mine
Go inside each others’ minds
Just to see what we’d find
Look at *#*# through each others’ eyes

Humans are in desperate need to be understood…That’s why we have all sorts of ways to express what we are feeling…we just need to choose the correct way, so that we will be blessed and not being in His wrath.

No matter how hard we seek people attention, or trying to find comfort in their embraces, it is never enough. It don’t satisfy us, never put us at ease…

Unless we find the most righteous place for serenity, a time when we feel that we are safe…that most precious moment…

When you find that place and time, you know that you are not alone…

It doesn’t have to be a big castle with lots of servants to serve us, and for student, you don’t have to wait until you finish all your exams or submit all your assignments.

It can be in a small room or when we are on our knees, almost giving up on whatsoever is coming…

You know it then and there, Allah never leaves you…In joy, in hardship…you just need to raise your hand and pray…

Anas (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet sallaAllahuAlaihiwasallam: said, “Allah says: ‘ When a slave of Mine draws near to Me a span, I draw near to him a cubit; and if he draws near to Me a cubit, I draw near to him a fathom. And if he comes to Me walking, I go to him running.”’.
[Al-Bukhari].

At that time our hearts beat only for our Lord, Allah Almighty.

‘Lemony Snicket Series of Unfortunate Events’ quote:

Dear reader, there are people in the world who know no misery and woe. And they take comfort in cheerful films about twittering birds and giggling elves. There are people who know that there’s always a mystery to be solved. And they take comfort in researching and writing down any important evidence. But this story is not about such people. This story is about the Baudelaires. And they are the sort of people who know that there’s always something. Something to invent, something to read, something to bite, and something to do, to make a sanctuary, no matter how small. And for this reason, I am happy to say, the Baudelaires were very fortunate indeed.

Hurmm, I don’t know why this quote is posted here…but somehow it inspired me to excel in my field…just ignore it if it doesn’t affect you…

However, that quote didn’t put a stop to this post. I want to end it with my Lord’s name, so please enjoy…this song is dedicated to you (but play the song yourself, only lyric is provided):

INSYAALLAH (Maher Zain)

Everytime you feel like you cannot go on
You feel so lost
That your so alone
All you is see is night
And darkness all around
You feel so helpless
You can`t see which way to go
Don`t despair and never loose hope
Cause Allah is always by your side

Insya Allah3x
Insya Allah you`ll find your way

Everytime you can make one more mistake
You feel you can`t repent
And that its way too late
Your`re so confused, wrong decisions you have made
Haunt your mind and your heart is full of shame

Don`t despair and never loose hope
Cause Allah is always by your side
Insya Allah3x
Insya Allah you`ll find your way
Insya Allah3x
Insya Allah you`ll find your way

Turn to Allah
He`s never far away
Put your trust in Him
Raise your hands and pray
OOO Ya Allah
Guide my steps don`t let me go astray
You`re the only one that showed me the way,
Showed me the way 2x
Insya Allah3x
Insya Allah we`ll find the way

ALHAMDULILLAH….

People of Repentence

I know you can clearly see that this post is in Malay. The story is more touching when I read it in this language.

However, before you start reading, you can start to download or at least buffer this interesting video from youtube, titled : The People Of Repentence by Imam Suhaib Webb. (So by the time you finish reading this story, you can watch this video smoothly. Please check it out. )

Aku sangat mencintainya. Setiap kali Fatimah bertambah besar, imanku makin bertambah dan maksiatku berkurang. Mungkin Fatimah tahu kalau aku memegang botol khamr (arak), lalu ia mendekat padaku, sehingga aku menjauhkan botol itu darinya, sedang ia baru berusia dua tahun. Seakan Allah menjadikan ia melakukan itu. Setiap kali Fatimah bertambah besar, imanku pun bertambah. Dan semakin aku selangkah lebih dekat dengan Allah, maka aku sedikit demi sedikit semakin jauh dari maksiat, hingga usia Fatimah genap tiga tahun.
“ Ketika usianya tiga tahun, ia mati…… .” Maka aku pun ingin mabuk, ingin minum khamr, sehingga aku minum sepanjang malam.

(HR Bukhari & Muslim)…”
Saya memohon semoga Allah memberikan kita semua nikmat taubat….

The 1st Habit : Be Proactive!!!

Posted: January 9, 2011 in Uncategorized

We praise Allah an abundant praises and pray for His blessings and guidance….

Now I’m reading The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens, written by Sean Covey. This book really inspires me, eventhough I haven’t finish reading it. So brothers and sisters, for those who haven’t read it, if you find this book anywhere, spend some time to read it. Maybe it will trigger a difference in your life, as one of the comments at the back of the book stated, “If The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens doesn’t help you, then you must have a perfect life already.”

But as a Muslim, we shouldn’t depend totally on this book. Seek guidance from others if the content is not suitable to be practiced. The most important thing, we should cling to our Lord, Allah Almighty, pray to Him, and ask Him to lead us to the correct path in becoming a better muslim. The book itself cannot change us, it is Allah that controls everythings, plus our own determination and efforts .

In this post, I just wanna share a poem taken from the second part of the book. It’s about how a person learn from his/her mistakes, how he/she gradually change from being a reactive person to a proactive one.

AUTOBIOGRAPHY IN FIVE SHORT CHAPTERS

by Portia Nelson

I

I walk down the street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk
I fall in.
I am lost … I am helpless.
It isn’t my fault.
It takes me forever to find a way out.

II

I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I pretend I don’t see it.
I fall in again.
I can’t believe I am in the same place
but, it isn’t my fault.
It still takes a long time to get out.

III

I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I see it is there.
I still fall in … it’s a habit.
my eyes are open
I know where I am.
It is my fault.
I get out immediately.

IV

I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I walk around it.

V

I walk down another street.

It’s ok to fall, as long as you are determine to stand up and finish the game. Nick Vujicic once said, ” It matters how you gonna finish. Are you gonna finish strong ? You’ll find that strength to get back up.”

The Path that is STEEP…

We praise Allah an abundant praises and pray for His blessings and guidance….

Translation of Surah al-Balad

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

1. I do call to witness this City;-
2. And thou art a freeman of this City;-
3. And (the mystic ties of) parent and child;-
4. Verily We have created man into toil and struggle.
5. Thinketh he, that none hath power over him?
6. He may say (boastfully); Wealth have I squandered in abundance!
7. Thinketh he that none beholdeth him?
8. Have We not made for him a pair of eyes?-
9. And a tongue, and a pair of lips?-
10. And shown him the two highways
11. But he hath made no haste on the path that is steep
12. And what will explain to thee the path that is steep
13. (It is:) freeing the bondman;
14. Or the giving of food in a day of privation
15. To the orphan with claims of relationship,
16. Or to the indigent (down) in the dust.
17. Then will he be of those who believe, and enjoin patience, (constancy, and self-restraint), and enjoin deeds of kindness and compassion.
18. Such are the Companions of the Right Hand.
19. But those who reject Our Signs, they are the (unhappy) Companions of the Left Hand.
20. On them will be Fire vaulted over (all round).

Translation taken from harunyahya.com.

As I read this surah,  I began to understand the path I ought to choose in my life. Many people, including me, love the easiest way to do things, to lead our lives, eventhough it is not the right choice. But at that time, it didn’t matter, as long as we do the job, then that’s it. We often took things for granted and this include our religion, the faith that we embraced.

Therefore, as mentioned in this surah, verse 10 and 11, less people chose the steep path. Is it too difficult for us to walk through this kind of path ? If we look at   al-Baqarah, verse 286, Allah stated; He will not  place a burden greater than what a soul can bear. So, the steep path can actually be travelled by us, His servants. We just have to choose.

Umar al-Khattab once heard a young man prayed to Allah; Let me be among the “few“. Let me be among the “few”. When he was asked why he wanted to be among the few, he answered: those few people are those who are grateful to Allah.

One day, a son asked his father :“Abi (dad) when will we ever relax?” His father, Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal, one of the greatest revivers of the Sunnah and a role model for all Muslims, looked him in the eye and said:“With the first step we take into Jannah (paradise).”

The long rest awaits in the Jannah. Hence, we should be working, trying our best in our daily lives, so we won’t regret, as Allah already reminded us in Surah al-Fajr;  23. And Hell, that Day, is brought (face to face),- on that Day will man remember, but how will that remembrance profit him?
24. He will say: “Ah! Would that I had sent forth (good deeds) for (this) my (Future) Life!”.

I also heard an Imam said that, a person who put himself in a position he doesn’t belong, he will do more evil than good.
So, make up your mind.

Between these paths, which one do you choose…

With the first step we take into Jannah….

We praise Allah an abundant praises and pray for His blessings and guidance….

A story for us to think….

He remembered his grandmother’s warning about praying on time: “My son, you shouldn’t leave prayer to this late time”. His grandmother’s age was 70 but whenever she heard the Adhan, she got up like an arrow and performed Salah. He, however could never win over his ego to get up and pray. Whatever he did, his Salah was always the last to be offered and he prayed it quickly to get it in on time.

Thinking of this, he got up and realized that there were only 15 minutes left before Salat-ul Isha. He quickly made Wudhu and performed Salat-ul Maghrib. While making Tasbih, he again remembered his grandmother and was embarrassed by how he had prayed. His grandmother prayed with such tranquility and peace.

He began making Dua and went down to make Sajdah and stayed like that for a while. He had been at school all day and was tired, so tired.

He awoke abruptly to the sound of noise and shouting. He was sweating profusely. He looked around. It was very crowded. Every direction he looked in was filled with people. Some stood frozen looking around, some were running left and right and some were on their knees with their heads in their hands just waiting.

Pure fear and apprehension filled him as he realized where he was. His heart was about to burst. It was the Day of Judgement. When he was alive, he had heard many things about the questioning on the Day of Judgement, but that seemed so long ago. Could this be something his mind made up? No, the wait and the fear were so great that he could not have imagined this.

The interrogation was still going on. He began moving frantically from people to people to ask if his name had been called. No one could answer him. All of a sudden his name was called and the crowd split into two and made a passageway for him.

Two angels grabbed his arms and led him forward. He walked with unknowing eyes through the crowd. The angels brought him to the center and left him there. His head was bent down and his whole life was passing in front of his eyes like a movie. He opened his eyes but saw only another world.

The people were all helping others. He saw his father running from one lecture to the other, spending his wealth in the way of Islam. His mother invited guests to their house and one table was being set while the other was being cleared. He pleaded his case, “I too was always on this path. I helped others. I spread the word of Allah. I performed my Salah. I fasted in the month of Ramadan. Whatever Allah ordered us to do, I did. Whatever he ordered us not to do, I did not.” He began to cry and think about how much he loved Allah.

He knew that whatever he had done in life would be less than what Allah deserved and his only protector was Allah. He was sweating like never before and was shaking all over. His eyes were fixed on the scale, waiting for the final decision. At last, the decision was made. The two angels with sheets of paper in their hands, turned to the crowd. His legs felt like they were going to collapse. He closed his eyes as they began to read the names of those people who were to enter Jahannam. His name was read first. He fell on his knees and yelled that this couldn’t be, “How could I go to Jahannam? I served others all my life, I spread the word of Allah to others”. His eyes had become blurry and he was shaking with sweat. The two angels took him by the arms. As his feet dragged, they went through the crowd and advanced toward the blazing flames of Jahannam.

He was yelling and wondered if there was any person who was going to help him. He was yelling of all the good deeds he had done, how he had helped his father, his fasts, prayers, the Qur’an that he read, he was asking if none of them would help him. The Jahannam angels continued to drag him.

They had gotten closer to the Hellfire. He looked back and these were his last pleas. Had not Rasulullah [saw] said, “How clean would a person be who bathes in a river five times a day, so too does the Salah performed five times cleanse someone of their sins”?

He began yelling, “My prayers? my prayers? my prayers.” The two angels did not stop, and they came to the edge of the abyss of Jahannam. The flames of the fire were burning his face. He looked back one last time, but his eyes were dry of hope and he had nothing left in him.

One of the angels pushed him in. He found himself in the air and falling towards the flames. He had just fallen five or six feet when a hand grabbed him by the arm and pulled him back.

He lifted his head and saw an old man with a long white beard. He wiped some dust off himself and asked him, “Who are you?” The old man replied, “I am your prayers”. “Why are you so late! I was almost in the Fire! You rescued me at the last minute before I fell in”. The old man smiled and shook his head, “You always performed me at the last minute, did you forget?”

At that instant, he blinked and lifted his head from Sajdah. He was in a sweat. He listened to the voices coming from outside. He heard the adhan for Salat-ul Isha. He got up quickly and went to perform Wudhu.

Imam Hassan al-Banna

Posted: January 9, 2011 in Uncategorized

We praise Allah an abundant praises and pray for His blessings and guidance….

Born: 1906 (in Mahmoudia, near Alexandria, Egypt)
Graduated from: Dar Al-Uloum school in Cairo
He worked in the field of education in several towns, calling people to follow the Qur’an and the Sunnah. He was able to guide to the Path of Allah thousands of people of all classes of his society.

Imam Al-Banna stayed in Ismailiah, Egypt for some time where he established the first center for Al-Ikhwan with a group of his brothers. He started making Da’wah in public through lectures and publications and visits to villages and towns. His activity was not only confined to men, he also established in Ismailiah “The Muslims’ Mothers Institute” for educating girls according to Islamic teachings.

After some time he was transferred to Cairo to which he transferred his headquarters. Cairo became the center of Da’wah and in a short time the number of Ikhwan reached about a half million. This enormous progress started to concern the British and their followers, the Egyptian politicians. They tried to dissuade Imam Al-Banna from politics but he insisted on his position. He established a daily newspaper in Cairo by the name “Al-Ikhwan Al-Muslimoon” which enabled him to address a much larger sector of the public than with lectures.

When the tragedy of Palestine took place, the Ikhwan troops were among the most active forces and were able to reach to the gates of Tel Aviv and almost conquered it if it had not been for the treason by the Arab rulers at that time. Furthermore, King Farouq of Egypt imprisoned a large number of Ikhwan. Finally, a plot was made by the British and implemented by their servants to assassinate Imam Al-Banna. He was shot in front of the “Muslim Youth Association” building in March 1949. After he was carried to the hospital, he was left on the floor bleeding with no one trying to save him. Two hours after he was shot, he passed away, at only 43 years of age.

Imam Al-Banna, may Allah have mercy on him, established his Da’wah on several pillars which he considered to be of utmost importance, among those pillars are:

1. Singleness of purpose,

2. Gathering people around the basic principles of Islam and not worrying about minor differences,

3. Following the proper Islamic manners in case of disagreement,

4. Thinking positively of those who disagree with one’s idea,

5. Avoiding despotism,

6. The possibility of more than one right opinion for a single issue,

7. Cooperation in what is agreed upon and forgiveness in what is disagreed upon,

8. Calling all Muslims to face the common enemy,

9. Encouraging work and productivity, and

10. Feeling of pity, not malice, for those who have gone astray.

Among His Sayings….

•O sincere brothers! Our pledge has ten pillars, remember them: understanding, sincerity, work, strife, sacrifice, obedience, steadfastness, singleness of purpose, brotherhood and confidence.

•Revive your conscience by believing in Allah and remaining mindful of Him; protect your communities by enjoining what is right and forbidding what is wrong; these are the two pillars of reformation.

•Islam performs two tasks: First, it molds the individuals into a new shape based on Aqidah and noble human qualities; it then uses these individuals as building units to establish the righteous Allah-mindful communities.

•Islam is an Aqidah (creed) as well as a nationality. Unlike nationalities which are based on land, the nationality of Islam is based on brotherhood in faith and, therefore, is far stronger and more meaningful than the former.
